Jennifer Fuller, PhD

Director of Research

Dr. Fuller has over 20 years of experience in the biosciences including urokinase in host-pathogen interactions, stem cell homing and hematopoiesis (at the University of Michigan), HIV vaccine development (at NYU School of Medicine) and the genomic basis of diseases including diabetes and COPD (at Weill Cornell Medical College). Dr. Fuller is currently Principal Investigator of an  NIH SBIR Phase II grant, which funds the development of HistoReceptomics technologies at GeneCentrix. She has previously held NIH-specified leadership roles, including co-director of an NIH T32 training program and Director of a Core within an NIH-funded program project (P50) award. She earned her BS from Michigan State University, her MA from New York University and her PhD in Immunology from the University of Michigan. 

Peter Weinberg, PhD

Senior Data Scientist

Dr. Weinberg has been leading data science projects at GeneCentrix since 2019. Prior to joining GeneCentrix, he worked as a data scientist and analyst in multiple industries, including biopharma, the music industry, data warehousing and political consulting. Dr. Weinberg received a PhD in Genetics and Neural Development from Columbia University, where he specialized in the genetic mechanisms regulating neuronal differentiation, guidance, and synaptic partner choice. 

Christian Fuller

Director of Operations

Mr. Fuller earned a JD from The University of California, Hastings College Of The Law and a BA in History from Michigan State University. He has 26 years of experience as an attorney and 19 years experience in small business administration.

Fanny Chiang

Scientist

Ms. Chiang is currently a Master's student in Biotechnology at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to joining GeneCentrix, Fanny engaged in research of disease-associated variants in RNA untranslated regions and their contribution to translation efficiency at Academia Sinica, Institute of Molecular Biology, in Taiwan.

Ariana Winter

Scientist

Ms. Winter earned her Master's degree in Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and a Bachelor's degree in Health Science from the University of Miami. Before joining the GeneCentrix team, Ariana was involved in research examining the modulation of redox-protective pathways on pancreatic tumor suppression at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine.

Erica Kornberg

Marketing Director 

Ms. Kornberg as more than 10 years' experience in digital marketing. Previously a journalist, she has more recently worked for an online advertising agency, a digital communications company, and several non-profit organizations. Her clients have included Google, Canon, Pearson Education, the Business-Higher Education Forum, and Virunga National Park. She received a BA in English from Amherst College. 

Lauren M. Young, MD-PhD

Advisor

Dr. Young is a molecular cell biology and genomics expert who was PI of one of GeneCentrix’ Phase I NIH awards. Dr. Young has worked in the biosciences for over fifteen years. She earned her B.A. in History and Science at Harvard University and her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from NYU School of Medicine.

Timothy Cardozo, MD-PhD

Co-Founder and Chairman of Advisory Board

Dr. Cardozo has 20 years experience in informatics and drug discovery and has extensive industry contacts. He has won DP2 and DP1 NIH innovation awards, and has been awarded 6 patents in the space.  Dr. Cardozo is currently an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Pharmacology at NYU Langone Health (NYULH) and has initiated over 20 drug discovery and protein engineering collaborations within NYULH.

Ritu Goyanka, PhD

Dr. Goyanka is the founder of RG Advisors and Consultants, LLC. She works with small biotech companies, startups and foundations to provide secondary research, due diligence, IP management, evaluating technologies for commercial potential, market intelligence and competitive analysis reports as well as to identify potential partners for commercialization. She has a Ph.D. from NYU School of Medicine where her research was focused on protein design and rational drug discovery.

Rahul Satija, PhD

Dr. Satija is an NIH-funded, principal investigator at the New York Genome Center. with a joint appointment as Assistant Professor at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology at New York University (NYU). Prior to joining the NYGC, Dr. Satija was a postdoctoral researcher at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, where he developed new methods for single cell analysis. 

Klara Felsovalyi, PhD

Research Director (ex officio) is a computational biologist who received her PhD from Columbia University in the Laboratory of Dr. Barry Honig, a leading computational biologist and chemist. Dr. Felsovalyi currently works for Richter Gedeon, Hungary’s largest pharmaceutical company.  

Marisa Tricarico, MBA

Ms. Tricarico is a healthcare venture expert, formerly of the NYU Innovation Venture Fund Lux Capital, the New York Angels, and Agoranov, one of Paris' leading startup incubators. She has also been an Associate at Clarion Healthcare, a strategy consulting firm. She holds a B.A. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Boston University, an MBA from New York University, and an MBA from HEC, Paris. 

Nick Woytowitz

Scientist

Mr. Woytowitz earned a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology and Physiology from the University of Maryland. Prior to joining GeneCentrix, he conducted research on the effects of genetic variation on chemotherapy resistance at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School’s Hillman Cancer Center.

 

Anmol Gorakshakar, MS

Research Scientist

Mr. Gorakshakar has a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and has a previous Masters in Biotechnology Degree from VIT University, India. Prior to joining GeneCentrix, he worked in Fundamental as well as Applied Biology as a Research Assistant in various research organizations, including NYU Dentistry. 

 

David Sasson, MS

Data Scientist

Mr. Sasson is an applied data scientist at GeneCentrix. He graduated from Macaulay Honors College with a degree in biochemistry and a graduate degree in Health Data Science from Harvard University. Previously, he has conducted research at Argonne National Laboratory and MIT's Computational Physiology group. 

 

Joseph Cardozo

CEO and COO

Mr. Cardozo is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Commonwealth Honors College with an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree. Mr. Cardozo has 12 years of experience in pre-award, post-award, finance and compliance administration at NYU School of Medicine and GeneCentrix, and over 18 years’ experience in small business administration and non-profits. Mr. Cardozo was the CEO and COO of GeneCentrix from 2019-2021.

Lea Lough, PhD

Consultant

Dr. Lough was a member of the GeneCentrix scientific team from 2018-2020. She received her BS and MS from San Francisco State University in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry. Dr. Lough went on to complete her PhD at the NYU Sackler Graduate School where she specialized in small molecule drug discovery. During her postdoctoral training, Dr. Lough investigated biomarkers associated with Alzheimer’s Disease and cardiovascular disease. 

Eric Ni

Consultant

Mr. Ni has 10 years’ experience in cheminformatics, software development, systems administration and data science at New York University, NYU School of Medicine and GeneCentrix. Mr. Ni earned a B.A. in Chemistry with a minor in Computer Science at NYU. 

Doreen Tivon

Consultant, CEO 

Ms. Tivon is a graduate of New York University with a B.A. in Biochemistry. Formerly a lab and project manager at NYU School of Medicine, she is currently completing her MBA at USC Marshall. Ms. Tivon was CEO of GeneCentrix from its founding in 2014 to 2019.
